In a remote secret lab in located in the Mojave Desert, a renegade scientific military unit works on a top-secret project involving breeding venomous rattlesnakes that develop a highly contagious virus.
But when enemy terrorists, in a clumsy attempt to steal the mutant snakes, destroy the laboratory, they inadvertently release the vicious rattlesnakes into the wild. Some years later, seismic activity unleashes hordes of very aggressive and virus-infected rattlesnakes on the remote town of Santa Mira Springs, California. With the town residents being bitten and the victims being able to transmit the virus to healthy persons, the military puts the town under quarantine. As the viral epidemic begins killing town physician, dr. Henning's friends and family, the corrupt military officials plan to blow up the town with a massive bomb to cover up the incriminating source of the diabolical disease. With a stealth plane carrying the bomb headed to the small town, and with the town filled with dying people, Dr. Henning needs to find a way to save the day, and possibly the planet.
